Starting a business from scratch isn’t easy. So much to consider: hiring attorneys, accountants, consultants….finding a place to hang your sign….but when you start fresh, you make decisions that are yours and you own them. The three founding architects of DMA – Dyron, Jim and Greg – started in a small office near Winrock Mall in Albuquerque in February 2001, with 3 folding tables, 3 chairs, and 3 computers. We sought work everywhere – it didn’t matter because there were no boundaries in our minds. Some 80+ proposals were generated that first year, as we put our best foot forward with the call to “hire us!” Eventually, word of our new venture was out and we started getting work in the office. We hired our first employee in October of 2001, for CAD support. Our single office phone was in the kitchen, so when it rang, there was a mad dash to answer it. We were lucky enough to know of another architect who was retiring and looking to get rid of volumes of technical manuals, books, a copier, a coffee machine, and furniture. Our first real conference table looked more like a poker table, but it worked! We were off and running, living the dream and hoping for the best!
20 years later here we are celebrating our Anniversary! We want to continue to thank all of our partners, clients, consultants and followers for supporting us throughout the years.
