TOHATCHI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Client: Gallup McKinley County Schools

Location: Tohatchi, NM

Size: 50,399 SF

The Tohatchi Elementary School project consisted of the design of a new two-story school building that accommodates 230 students.

Classrooms are provided for pre-school, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and first through fifth grades. The existing school had to remain in operation while the new school was under construction, which led to the decision to locate the new school directly north of the existing facility. This allowed for uninterrupted school access during the construction period.

After construction of the new school was completed, the old existing buildings were demolished and the construction of new site amenities and landscape improvements began.
