Thoreau Middle School accommodates 300 students and 43 staff. Renovation efforts included the academic classroom wing, the gymnasium with stage and locker rooms, and a detached metal building. New construction consisted of an administration area, SPED & Life Skills cluster, science labs, eighth grade classroom cluster, and cafeteria/kitchen. Dyron Murphy Architects, P.C. worked closely with PSFA and Gallup McKinley County Schools to submit Educational Specifications prior to design submittals. The existing school remained fully operational while the new school was under construction.
