This Student Living and Learning Center offers 44 rooms, study and recreational spaces for 1st through 8th grade students. A large central community space, counseling and administrative offices, isolation rooms, storage and ancillary spaces are also included.
The 1-8 Student Living and Learning Center at Rough Rock Community School achieved LEED Silver Certification. The design incorporates a number of sustainable features including rainwater harvesting, use of non-toxic materials and substantial daylighting. Energy and water consumption were drastically reduced through strategic design strategies, and no potable water is used for irrigation of site plantings. Educational signage about sustainable initiatives is incorporated throughout the Student Living and Learning Center and other LEED certified buildings on the Rough Rock Campus.
