The new office complex houses five main administrative departments of NNDOT that provide administrative and technical services to the Navajo Nation and Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The facility includes a lobby, reception, administrative offices (open and private), conference rooms, library rooms, server rooms, file (active and archival) rooms, a central mail room, work rooms, kitchenettes, employee exercise facilities, employee break rooms, staff and public restrooms, mechanical/electrical rooms and general storage.
In addition, the office complex includes a conference center behind the office building that is connected with a pedestrian bridge. Sustainable design features include photo-voltaic (solar) panels which provide 18% of electrical power to the building, a geothermal wellfield for the building mechanical system, rainwater harvesting, recycled content building materials, carbon dioxide sensors, “smart” building fixtures that detect human space occupancy and plenty of natural lighting throughout. The closeout project cost included LEED Gold certification, and full interior furnishings and equipment.
