CONCHO HEAD START

Client: Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes

Location: Concho, Oklahoma

Size: 9,185 SF

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes recently celebrated the ground breaking of their new Head Start in Concho, Oklahoma. This new 9,185 square foot facility will include three classrooms, a large multipurpose/dining room, staff offices, kitchen, and support spaces. In addition to incorporating the needs of the staff, students, and community, DMA referenced traditional cultural design elements of the tribes and the region, and current trends in head start design as inspiration to help inform the design of the building. Common themes throughout the design include bright happy colors, curves, and color coding for each grade level. Each of these elements will help encourage an exciting and inspirational learning environment for the children.
