CHINLE JUSTICE CENTER
Client: The Navajo Nation
Location: Chinle, AZ
Size: 102,000 SF
The Chinle Justice Center is designed to be built in two phases and is comprised of three buildings: a 17,500 SF Law Enforcement Facility, 51,000 SF Corrections Facility, and a 33,000 SF Courts Facility.
The Law Enforcement building is a single story structure with a pronounced and inviting entrance accentuated by a circular trellis. The architectural design was carefully coordinated to give a “welcoming rather than overbearing” feel to the building. Additionally, a separate, secure entry is provided for confidential informants. From the waiting area, visitors can access the Records office and the offices of the Community Relations and Recruiting Officer. Public access beyond these areas is restricted.
Dyron Murphy produced phased Site / Steel drawings and multiple building packages to assist the owner in accomplishing their funding and logistic goals. DMA pro-actively engaged with utility providers and Authority Having Jurisdiction to assist in timely approvals.
