“WHAT YOU’RE SITTING IN NOW IS HISTORY. IT’S THE FIRST STAND ALONE BUILDING FOR EMS ON NAVAJO.”
The To’hajiilee community, Division of Public Safety and Department of Emergency Medical Service staff and supervisors, Navajo Nation President Russell Begaye and representatives from across the Navajo Nation gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the new Emergency Medical Service Field office. The building is the first of its kind on the Navajo Nation, and is the result of the persistence of the Division of Public Safety EMS Department and To’hajiilee Chapter officials in pursuing a vision for improving services in their communities.
The new field office is a standalone, non-modular building, unlike any other Emergency Medical Service building on Navajo. It signals an era of new services to come, and the improved delivery of services at the community level.
The building was designed by Dyron Murphy Architects and constructed by Native American Services Corporation.

Navajo EMS is comprised of personnel dedicated to provide elite services and quality care to Navajo communities. There are currently 15 active paramedics within Navajo EMS; as the department continues to grow, they have recently expanded their Advanced Life Support training and services. As part of their community involvement, EMS offers Injury Prevention presentations and CPR Courses and Training.
