The Chinle Nursing Home recently broke ground in Chinle, Arizona. When completed, this 80 bed, single story facility will accommodate levels 1, 2, and 3 of senior care services.

The design for the nursing home incorporates a modern take on traditional Navajo colors and aesthetics, and is designed to provide a warm and comforting home-like environment for patients. Color is used throughout the building to help memory care patients remember which “household” they reside in. Memory Boxes are placed outside patient rooms and hold personal items such as pictures or trinkets to help patients remember which room they are in. The tile, carpet, and colored concrete inside the facility are designed with Navajo basket weave and rug patterns to emphasize connections to cultural elements. The ceilings and fire places are shaped like a wood Hogan, providing a traditional and home-like environment.

The Chinle Nursing Home includes resident living and activity areas, caregiver work areas, administrative suite, dining and activity room, exterior covered patios, cafe bistro, physical therapy room and bathing room, occupational therapy, speech therapy, commercial kitchen, commercial laundry facility, and support spaces.
